Both Henry and Lucy came from the same breeder Texas, but different dachshund parents.
They are such happy siblings, it is easy to forget that they were not always a family, but upon close inspection, it’s easy to see how many variations they have; color, yes (although litters always seem to have an assortment of colors) but also face shape, nose slope, eye shape, teeth and certainly demeanor. Perhaps more tellingly, Lucy is a much larger dachshund then Henry. One vet termed Lucy a “mini” dachshund, and Henry a “micro mini”. Funny to describe dogs in terms of skirt sizes!
Choosing them was at once very difficult and easy. Difficult in that we had such a selection to choose from!
And easy because it was as if they were waiting for us all along.
