Please be patient, and other automated transport pleas

Now that I am again a frequent user of public transport, the automated announcements have become part of the white noise in my head:

There are minor delays in the Victoria line due to planned engineering works.  There is a good service on all London underground lines.  Alight here for museums.  And of course, the iconic, mind the gap. 

I got a good laugh from this little article in New York Magazine.  Apparently MTA subway riders got really ticked off every time the train would become delayed and the automated announcements would say, please be patient. You can read this funny article here.
